Developed by Troika Games (founded by ex-Fallout devs), the game offers one of the deepest character-creation systems ever seen. You could play as a gunslinging dwarf, a pacifist elf, or a charismatic half-ogre diplomat. The game world reacts to your background, race, and choices in meaningful ways. Though the engine was clunky and combat awkward, its sheer freedom, atmosphere, and writing gave it cult status.
